A wise man speaks because he has something to say; a fool because he has to say something. – Plato –

What this quote says to me:

Being a good listener is like having a superpower. Learning to listen before speaking is a difficult and often uncomfortable skill to master. This quote reminds me of what a wise therapist of mine once invited me to try. He said; “Mike, the Buddhists have a lovely tradition. The invite us to ask three questions before we utter the words we feel compelled to speak. These questions are, is what I’m about to say, kind; is it necessary; and does it improve on silence? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then maybe we need listen and not speak for now”. Wise words indeed.
